Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes Wednesday January 29, 2014

Acceptance of Previous Minutes from January 8, 2014 meeting
-Jen makes a motion to accept minutes, Mark second
-All in favor (4-0) (Jen, Rebecca, Anita, Mark)

Open Session:

New Business:
Recreation Director updates-Kelly
                No budget update        
                Basketball estimate- make $6000
                Bowling at Bayberry during February vacation- kids price, free shoes
                Kelly to get certified as a CPO- $295
                Trips- information up the website
                Megan Johnson hired to fill in at after school programs
                Snack bar open at Rutland Skate Day     
                Fast Athletics for preschool- maybe 2-3 in the afternoon
                Zumba/Yoga during February vacation
Summer fun moving to Naquag
        Dixie wants all employees CORI checked through WRSD
        2 porta-potties for outside
        Will stagger the custodians to accommodate 5 o’clock pick up
        Will run July 7th-August 8th
        Will run two weeks for the preschool age- must be potty trained!!!
Pool Repair Costs
Quotes for draining and cleaning inside, lining with tubing, moving snack shack to front office, erosion issue
Egg Hunt ideas
Separate events on April 12th- morning Easter egg hunt/breakfast for younger kids, nighttime Easter egg hunt for older kids
For younger kids- find eggs, but get goodie bags
Mother Son bowling update- Bogey Lanes cheapest and most accommodating, but small
        AMF Auburn/Shrewsbury options for 10-pin
        All options seems pricey
        Go back to Mother/Son Dance- May 17th
        Potentially change the Father/Daughter to April
Review Summer Fun and Pool Job Description
        “seasonal” not full-time
        cost $99 for the ad for the jobs- to go out on Thursday
        need to follow matrix to pay director
Discuss Recreation Director Hours and Possible Need for an Assistant or Increased Hours
Kelly says she typically works 25-40 hours, at least 10 just answering emails, phone calls
Need questions answered as to what we can do to pay her for more hours
Budget
        Show Basketball, pool, UTLT numbers
        Ask finance committee what we need to show
